A storage platform built for homes and small offices

With a maximum capacity of 72 terabytes, the DS423+ is ideal for teams of professionals, small businesses looking to centralise storage, or as a node in distributed deployments. The DSM system on the DS423+ uses an advanced Btrfs file system to protect data from corruption and allows users to quickly undo any unintended or malicious changes using snapshot technology.

The DS423+ features two easy-access M.2 NVMe slots that can be used to connect high-speed flash cache or create SSD storage volumes without occupying standard drive bays. SSD storage pools are ideal for tasks requiring low latency and high random write performance, while SSD cache volumes can significantly improve I/O performance on slower HDD volumes.

Local storage with cloud integration

The DS423+ provides intuitive file management and sharing with Synology Drive, which combines cross-platform file access with the privacy offered by local storage. For remote teams and multi-location businesses, cross-location file synchronisation is available for mirroring between Synology devices.

The hybrid cloud capabilities provided by Synology Hybrid Share allow users to combine the benefits of an on-premise and cloud solution by storing infrequently used data in the cloud while caching frequently used files on the local device for access at LAN speeds.

Backup centre with multi-layered data protection

Ensuring continuous protection of critical data from today's cyber threats is essential to avoid irreversible loss of valuable information. Synology's Active Backup Suite allows IT infrastructure such as Windows and Linux systems, Hyper-V/VMware virtual machines and Microsoft 365 / Google Workspace accounts to be securely backed up to the DS423+ and easily restored when needed.

For added redundancy, you can also back up and snapshot data from a specific point in time stored on the NAS server and send it off-site to another location or cloud service.

Surveillance Station makes it easy to set up and manage up to 40 cameras on the DS423+ with a modern and customisable interface. For deployments spread over large areas or multiple buildings, floor plans and Google Maps or OpenStreetMap can be overlaid to maximise situational awareness.

Surveillance Station allows for easy encryption, backup and archiving of recordings, as well as simultaneous cloud recording with the optional C2 Surveillance tool.
