Want to look at the starry sky? Want to hunt for faint galaxies and look around for planets? Still haven't chosen your telescope and think that refractors and catadioptrics are too expensive a pleasure? You've even looked at what reflector manufacturers can offer, but you still haven't found a suitable candidate for visual observations. Still restless and looking for an inexpensive large diameter telescope? Then you will really be interested in the Dobsonian reflector. You won't find a cheaper telescope of this diameter. You may not even be looking. Just don't think that you are saving at the expense of optical quality.
- You pay less, because instead of a complicated and heavy equatorial mount, you get a simple wooden azimuth mount. It's very easy to use, but an extremely strong mount that would be the envy of most equatorial mounts. You just turn the telescope with your hands where you want and look - it doesn't get any easier. A Newtonian reflector of the classic optical scheme is usually attached to the mount.
- This type of telescope is also not expensive. They are cheaper than other types of telescopes because the production technology is relatively simple, but it certainly does not mean worse quality.
- The Newton reflector is an extremely versatile and inexpensive telescope.
- If you are going to hunt for deep-sky objects, this is an excellent choice, and in good weather conditions, you will be able to see the smallest details of the planets thanks to the large aperture.
- The most important optical element of the telescopes of this system is the primary mirror. The brightness and quality of the image will depend on it.
- This telescope comes with a high-quality parabolic mirror, so the image is sharp enough over the entire field of view. When choosing a reflector, pay attention to the quality of the optics. In larger reflectors, it is extremely important that the main mirror is parabolic-shaped, because only with the help of mirrors of this shape, all the collected light is focused to a point, so the image is sharp in the entire field of vision, without large spherical aberrations. The light collected by the primary mirror is reflected from the flat, elliptical, secondary mirror and enters your eyes through the eyepiece. Part of the incoming light is blocked by the secondary mirror and its mounting mechanism, which slightly reduces the resolution and the amount of incoming light, but don't be discouraged, these shortcomings are fully compensated by the large diameter. Like any telescope, the Newtonian reflector sometimes needs to be collimated. Collimation is the alignment of the optical axes of the telescope. If the telescope is out of alignment, you will lose some of the brightness of the image. It's not a complicated procedure, and all the telescopes we sell are already collimated.
- Also, remember that like any telescope, it must be cooled to ambient temperature before use.
- This 150mm Skyliner Dobsonian Reflector would be ideal for a beginner amateur astronomer looking for a simple telescope that is easy to use.
- It is a universal and portable device. You will be able to observe the planets, the Moon, comets, deep sky objects, choose from hundreds of objects. The main mirror is in the shape of a parabola, covered with a reflective layer of aluminum and a protective layer of silicon dioxide. The secondary mirror is also covered with aluminum and silicon dioxide.
Focuser 2", with 1.25" adapter, 1.25", 25mm (50x) and 10mm (120x) Super Plossl eyepieces are supplied in the set.
A unique feature of these Dobsonians is the extremely comfortable Sky-Watcher's patented variable tension handle.
Other telescopes sometimes have problems with the balance of the telescope when using eyepieces of different weights, this one certainly won't. It is a simple, convenient and universal telescope. Although this type of mount is ideal for visual observations, it is not suitable for astrophotography. Therefore, if you plan to take pictures in the future, you will have to purchase an equatorial mount.
Also, if you are going to hunt dim deep sky objects, 200mm and 250mm reflectors would be a better choice.
