In addition, a zoom lock ring, the capability to switch from vertical to horizontal composition, and other features offer superb flexibility for everything from sports to nature photography.
Teleconverter ready
The maximum focal length can be extended up to 800mm (35mm camera equivalent: 1,600mm) with the optional DMW-TC20 teleconverter.

With a closest focusing distance of 1.3m and maximum magnification of 0.5×, this lens is a powerful instrument for nature photography, allowing you to zoom in on small, sensitive subjects like birds and butterflies. With the DMW-TC20 attached, 1× life-size macro photography is also possible.
Lens construction
The optimized configuration has 20 elements in 13 groups, including 1 ASPH/ED, 1 UED and 2 ED lenses to minimize aberrations and ensure superb resolution.
