ORAL MEASUREMENT
Place the thermometer probe in one of the positions marked "√" as shown in the figure on the right for approximately 1 minute. To increase the accuracy of the measurement, keep the lips close together for 5 minutes before taking the measurement. The valid temperature range for this method is 35.7-37.3 ℃ (96.3 ℉ -99.2 ℉).
RECTAL MEASUREMENT
Coat the thermometer sensor with petroleum jelly for easier insertion. Gently insert the sensor approximately one centimeter (less than half an inch) deep into the patient's rectum and hold it stationary for approximately 1.5 minutes. The valid temperature range for this method is 35.2 ℃ -36.7 ℃ (95.4 ° F-98.1 ° F).
MEASURING UNDER ARM
From a medical point of view, this method never guarantees precise measurement. Wipe your armpit with a dry towel. Place the thermometer sensor under your armpit and keep the arm pressed firmly against the side of your body for about 1.5 minutes.
