Beet greens have been enjoyed in cuisines worldwide since prehistoric times, especially in Northern Africa, Asia, and parts of Europe. Today, of course, they are enjoyed worldwide. And we're not surprised with the amount of health benefits beets offer. Use in salads, stews or smoothies!
You can start harvesting in approximately three weeks by picking off the larger outer leaves - the plant will produce more from its basal growing point. Harvest gradually until the plant is about five weeks old. If you prefer harvesting the whole pod at once, we recommend doing so four weeks after planting. Please note! The plant is entirely red and its red juice will stain your skin and clothing - as beet juice usually does.
We're switching to a more sustainable plant capsule system, and you might receive your plant capsules without the plastic around the Smart Soil. This system works with the older Smart Herb Garden also, just don't throw away the plastic capsules!
