The AP-505 is a versatile stereo power amplifier tuned by TEAC with Hypex Ncore technology in an elegant, compact housing. The robust steel housing is clad with lightweight aluminium panels. The AP-505 features a powerful, energy-efficient Hypex Ncore amplifier module that delivers 130W + 130W in stereo/bi-amp mode or 250W in BTL mode. The module can drive a variety of speakers and delivers great pianissimo, fortissimo and everything in between. In other words, it faithfully reproduces the dynamics of the music.

Stability and elegance
The front, top and side panels are made of high-quality aluminium alloy and are firmly attached to the robust steel inner frame. This construction helps to reduce the transmission of mechanical vibrations and ensures that every element inside the device functions optimally. Thanks to its handy A4 format, the AP-505 is very space-saving and fits easily into modern interiors. This is in stark contrast to most conventional bi-amp/BTL power amplifiers, which are usually too bulky and too wide.

Balanced design
By utilising a fully balanced circuit design from input to output stage, the AP-505 keeps the audio signal as unaltered as possible as it passes through the amplifier, resulting in extremely low distortion levels and an excellent signal-to-noise ratio (aided by effective common mode noise rejection).

Carefully selected components
The amplifier uses high-quality MUSES8820E dual op-amps for the XLR and RCA inputs. In the power supply section of the input stage, the left and right channel rectifier circuits are completely independent of the power transformer and utilise four powerful 4700F capacitors per channel (8 in total), achieving clear separation of the channels in the sound stage. The well-designed circuitry ensures excellent signal integrity, due in part to the elimination of coupling capacitors, which often lose audio information when the signal is looped through.

Toroidal power transformer
The AP-505 uses a powerful toroidal transformer with Schottky barrier diodes in the rectifier circuit. Unlike conventional diodes, Schottky diodes reduce rectifier noise, resulting in a cleaner power supply and more stable current output.

Pin-point' feet for easy installation
The AP-505 utilises TEAC's 'Pin-Point' feet. These consist of two separate metal parts in an integrated housing. One part has a spiked tip and is attached to the underside of the chassis, the other part is round and hangs off the spiked tip for easy placement. The unique design of the "pin-point" feet significantly minimises vibration and resonance, an arrangement that reduces inconsistencies in the mids and bass to improve sound quality and deliver fine sonic detail.

Passive cooling design for quiet operation
It makes no sense to develop an amplifier that supplies a pair of speakers with excellent sound but generates disturbing operating noise from a cooling fan. Instead, the circuitry and layout of the AP-505 allows for sufficient and natural cooling.

Two analogue level meters
Analogue level meters on the front panel move in response to signal levels, providing visually appealing confirmation that the amplifier is doing its job. A four-stage dimmer (bright, medium, dimmable, off) allows the user to adjust the intensity of the display to their liking, while a switchable sensitivity function (±0dB, +20dB, movement off) allows more, less or no measurement to be displayed. In this case, the position of the switch indicates whether the device is on or off.
